CANYON "BLACK MAMBA" THRUXTON
THIS ‘BLACK MAMBA’ IS BUILT TO RIDE…………….. AND RIDE FAST!!
Mike originally came up to us after his first Bonneville was taken out by a lady in a car. He loved that bike and had many good times on it, but it was wrecked good and proper so it was off to the scrapyard and he was bummed big time.
Fast forward a few weeks and he bought a spanking new ‘14 Thruxton and rolled it into the shop for its first service and a few upgrades. After a good chat and kicking some ideas around, it turned into a full Canyon Build with a bench full of high-end performance parts with a goal of a lean, fast practical machine that handles like it should do instead of a pregnant cat on a skateboard!
As usual, the stock wheels and tires were whipped off and some fat satin black 17’s with Distancia Supermoto compound tires and braking rotors. It was looking like a proper bike after Billy at Hagon built some custom Nitros and a front end kit in record time. B/C fork brace allow the fender to be thrown out! Some of Norman’s M Bars work well on the Thruxtons and CRG’s and B/C clock bracket and black headlight and fork covers and Gators sort out the front end.
B/C fender kit and some X-Arcs set the Corbin Beetlebox seat off well and the bike looks well fat from the rear with that FAT tire!
I pulled the valve cover and torqued the head old school, and set the valves on the money as that helps so much on final set up. Brent at N/B supplied the airbox kit, and we worked some magic with a Custom Dyno tune set up to match those all New Bassanis. A Titanium headerwrap and it was time to fire the beast up!
Man, do them pipes sound Deep and Throaty with a lovely scream at the top end!
I ask everyone I build a bike for to come up with a name and Mike called his the “Black Mamba” and I’ll leave you to figure out why!! Needless to say the Leather Strap-On might have had something to do with it!
This bike just screams and howls through the canyons on those fat 17’s and those deep-tone Bassanis are a really fantastic option for the Twins!
If you want the business Thruxton, buying a new bike and going all the way with it brings stunning results quickly with no problems. We had everything in the shop and turned the bike around in a week! And…you actually recoup a lot of funds on the take off parts!
